## Key terms

- License: Desert Ant Labs Source-Available License v1.0. SPDX: `LicenseRef-DAL-Source-Available-1.0`. Perpetual; source-available, not open source.
- Free tier: below 100,000 monthly active devices (MAD) per platform, for each model. Above that, a commercial license is required (licensing@desertant.ai).
- MAD (monthly active device): a device (each browser, on web) that calls a model in a calendar month, counted once; each device counts separately, so two devices count as two.
- You may: run the models in production, log/analyze your own app, tune thresholds, build accessibility features, benchmark, and build internal-only classifiers/embeddings from outputs (not distributed as a model). You own your outputs and logs.
- You may not: use the models, their outputs, or logs to train/fine-tune/distill a competing on-device model or assemble a competing dataset; redistribute the models or SDKs standalone; reverse-engineer or extract weights; bypass safety-model safeguards; disable or tamper with the usage telemetry.
- Telemetry: on-device models; the SDK sends only a minimal usage signal to count MAD (not tied to any user); never your inputs, outputs, or users' content.
- Attribution: credit "Desert Ant Labs" with a short "powered by" line, linked to https://desertant.ai where the medium allows. Guidance and marks: https://license.desertant.ai/attribution
- Acceptance: by downloading the models. Governing law: Netherlands (Amsterdam).
